游フォントがとにかくややこしい話

Windows も OS X も、最近は標準で「游フォント」がついてくるようになった。しかし、とにかくいろんな名前があってヤヤコシイ。
Windows の場合
Windows 8.1 では、標準で游明朝と游ゴシックがバンドルされた。Windows 10 ではさらに UI ゴシックも追加され、ウェイトも増加した。
ここまではまあまあ良く知られた話ではある。しかしそれだけではない。
- Windows 7/8 でも Office 2010/2013 を持っていれば追加で Windows 10 と同等の游フォントをインストールできるフォントパック（游ゴシック 游明朝フォントパック）が公開されている（texqa で話題に上がった）。
- Visual Studio 2013 をインストールするといつのまにか游ゴシックが付いてくる

同じ見た目にできるけれど…？
游フォントが Windows / OS X に搭載されたことで、Web サイトのみためを統一することができるというメリットが生じたことは話題になった。しかし、これだけフォントファイル名や PostScript 名にばらつきがあると、紛らわしくてしょうがない…
おまけ：PostScript Name や Full Name の解析法
僕の場合は Adobe Font Development Kit for OpenType (AFDKO) を使っている。ttx というプログラムは
TTX 2.5 -- From OpenType To XML And Back
If an input file is a TrueType or OpenType font file, it will be
dumped to an TTX file (an XML-based text format).
If an input file is a TTX file, it will be compiled to a TrueType
or OpenType font file.
だそうで、TrueType や OpenType 形式のフォントを XML ベースのテキストファイルにダンプしたり、逆にフォントへとコンパイルしたりするものである。使い方は
$ ttx -t name YuGothic.ttf Dumping YuGothic.ttf to YuGothic.ttx... Dumping 'name' table...
これで name table がダンプされて以下の YuGothic.ttx が得られる：

このうち、nameID="4" のところが Full Name で、nameID="6" のところが PostScript Name である。TrueType Collection や OpenType Collection の場合は
$ ttx -t name -y 0 YuGothR.ttc
のように TTC index を指定する（上の例は TTC index が 0 の場合；すなわち .ttc のなかの一つ目のフォント）。
